Dr. Ghassan Abboud, Founder &
President
Dr.
Ghassan Abboud is founder and President of 1st Family
Dental. He opened the flagship office at the Clark Street
location in 1996. He received his dental and specialty training
at Loyola University concentrating in full mouth
rehabilitation, removable dentures, and implants. Dr.
Abboud practices at nearly all clinics and sees patients
full-time. Dr. Abboud also handles executive management
of the 1st Family clinics. Despite his busy schedule he
manages to find a bit of time to enjoy some of his interests,
which include traveling, horses, and nature.
Dr. Albert (Abdullah) Abboud
Dr. Albert (Abdullah) Abboud has been
a member of the 1st Family Dental team since 2004. His
favorite part about practicing dentistry is that he can help
you walk out with a smile, no matter how your mouth felt as you
were walking in! Dr. Albert attended Loma Linda Dental
School, graduated with my DDS, and completed a residency at UIC
in Prosthedontics and Implant Technology. His
proficiencies include regular and deep cleanings for healthy
gums and teeth, regular and surgical extractions, and treatment
planning. His main goal for you as a patient is
simple: to learn about your dental health goals and give
you great care and recommendations for your healthiest
smile. In his spare time, Dr. Albert is something of a
movie buff, enjoys dining out, spending time with his family,
and when he can squeeze it in, he loves to play soccer.
Dr. Tom Adams
Dr. Adams graduated in the Clinical Honors Program and
ranked top in his class in clinical performance from Loyola
University School of Dentistry. Immediately after Dental School
he served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy where he
completed many courses, including Advanced Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Pathology and Advanced Trauma and
Life Saving. While in the military, he became a life member of
the Association of Military Surgeon of the United States. Dr.
Adams received certification in Oral Implantology from Scripps
Implant Dental Education and Research Center in San Diego,
California in 1991.
Dr. Adams is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society
and a member of both the American and International Academies
of Implant Dentistry, as well as numerous other professional
organizations. He also received a fellowship award in 1998 from
the International College of Dentists in San Francisco,
California. Dr. Adams received America’s Top Dentists Award in
2005, 2006, 2007 for Cosmetic and Implant Reconstructive Dental
Surgeon by Consumers Research Council of America. Dr.
Adams currently practices in our Andersonville and Arlington Heights
Locations.
Dr. Joseph Akhikar
 Dr. Akhikar joined 1st
Family Dental in 2006. He graduated from Boston
university school of dental medicine with High Honors. Dr.
Akhikar's post graduate study and residency program in advanced
education in general dentistry was completed at Boston
university school of dental medicine. Dr. Akhikar is a
fellow of American Dental Implant Association, and fellow of
International Congress of Oral Implantologist. He is the
recipient of several awards and distinctions.
Since joining 1st Family Dental, Dr. Akhirar has acquired
more than 700 continuing education hours in the field of
general and implant dentistry. Dr. Akhikar practices at
the suburban 1st Family Dental clinics in Elgin and Aurora, as
well as our downtown clinic on Division St. and Wells.
Dr. Joumana Basha-Farhat
Dr. Joumana Basha-Farhat has been
practicing with the 1st Family Dental team since 2006. Dr.
Basha's friendly, patient and compassionate demeanor, as well
as her extensive experience working with children and adults,
makes her an excellent choice for family visits.

Dr. Ramzi Duaibis, Board Certified Orthodontist
Dr. Duaibis graduated from the University
of Jordan Dental School in 2004 at the top of his class with
many awards and honors. After practicing dentistry and teaching
for 2 years, Dr. Duaibis pursued his dream to become an
orthodontist and completed a three-year orthodontic residency
program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Duaibis is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics,
a distinction achieved only by one in four orthodontists in the
USA. Dr. Duaibis provides orthodontic treatment to children,
adolescents and adults and offers several modern treatment
options in addition to traditional braces including clear
braces, Invisalign and Incognito Lingual braces which are
placed behind the teeth. Dr. Duaibis practices and is
available for consultations in the following 1st Family Dental
clinics: Clark St. in Andersonville,
26th St. in Little Village,
Milwaukee Ave in Logan Square, Kedzie Avenue in Albany Park, as well as
the suburban locations of Arlington

Dr. Sandy Murad
Dr. Sandy Murad has been a member of the
1st Family Dental team since 2008. She graduated from the
University of Illinois-Chicago College of Dentistry after
receiving her Bachelors degree in Biology.
As a UIC student, she received an award in prosthodontics for
academic excellence. Dr. Murad is currently a member
of the American Dental Association,
Illinois State Dental Society,
and Chicago Dental Society. Dr.
Murad has completed speciality training courses in Dental
Implants, Botox/Collagen fillers, Invisalign, and
Lumineers.
Dr. Murad's goal is to keep her patients involved and
informed in all aspects of the dental treatment planning and
decision-making. Her first priority is taking her patient's
questions, fears, goals, and expectations into account, so that
they are comfortable and at ease from the beginning to the end
of the procedure. Dr. Murad is fluent in English, Spanish and
Arabic, and welcomes seeing patients of all ages. She uses the
most current techniques and technologies available. When Dr.
Murad is not seeing patients, she is spending most of her time
with her family and two dogs.
Dr. Firas Najeeb
Dr. Firas Najeeb joins the1st
Family Dental team with more than 10 years of experience in
both general dentistry and orthodontics. Dr. Najeeb
graduated from New York University College of Dentistry, with
an additional background in Orthodontics. Dr. Najeeb
enjoys working with families and children. He approaches
dentistry as a partnership with patients from the very
beginning. Dr. Najeeb recommends and approaches all
dental treatment at a pace that is set by the patient, and his
goal is always complete satisfaction. When Dr. Najeeb is not
practicing dentistry, he enjoys spending time with hiswife and
young son, and he also enjoys reading. Dr. Najeeb practices at
our locations at Albany Park and Logan Square.
Dr. Nidal Obeid
 Dr. Nidal
Obeid has been with the 1st Family Dental
team since 2004. Dr. Obeid graduated from dental school
in the Ukraine in 1993, and also completed extensive training
for a specialization in orthodontics at the University of
Moscow in Russia. Dr. Obeid has also completed two
rigorous programs in the United States, including a 1-year
Prosthedontic fellowship at the University of Illinois at
Chicago (UIC), and a 2-year fellowship for advanced education
in general dentistry at the University of Miami. Dr.
Obeid is also a proud recipient of the Nova Southeast
University 2009 “John Tobak Memorial Award for Special Care
Dentistry” for his work with patients with developmental
disabilities and other special needs.
Dr. Obeid grew up in Syria, and has family there as well as
in the U.S. Through his travels and studies, Dr. Obeid
has become fluent in Arabic, Russian and English. In his
spare time, Dr. Obeid enjoys sport fishing and playing
pool.
Dr. Tamara Oweis, Board-Certified Orthodontist
 Dr. Tamara
Oweis is excited to join the 1st Family
Dental team to provide orthodontic services at our downtown
location at Division &
Wells. After finishing dental school, Dr. Oweis pursued her
orthodontic education and received a Master of Oral Sciences
degree and a Certificate in Orthodontics from University of
Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Oweis is a board-certified
orthodontist in the state of Illinois and she is an active
member in the American Dental
Association, the American Association of
Orthodontists and the Illinois Society of
Orthodontists.
Dr. Oweis provides orthodontic treatment to patients of all
age groups and offers several treatment alternatives including conventional braces, clear braces
and Invisalign.
Dr. Inah Park
Dr. Park has been with 1st Family Dental
since 2003. She practices general dentistry, including Lumineer
and Invisalign at our clinics in Andersonville on Clark St. Dr.
Park received her dental degree at the University of
Michigan. Dr. Park enjoys golfing, playing tennis and
skiing, as well as spending time with her two children.
Dr. Mo Pezeshk
Dr. Mo Pezeshk (Dr. Mo) earned his
bachelors degree in Chemistry with emphasis in Biological
Sciences at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He
continued his education at Indiana University School of
Dentistry in Indianapolis, Indiana where he received his
Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He believes that all
patients deserve compassionate care and uncompromising
quality. Dr. Mo enjoys seeing children and families and
also administers Nitrous Oxide (lauging gas). His
goal is to help parents to become very educated in dental
health for their children, which will help keep kids healthy
for life. In his free time he enjoys spending time with
family, traveling, exercising, and cooking. Dr. Pezeshk is
an active member of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Bilus Poles
Dr. Bilus Poles has been practicing with
1st Family Dental in our family-friendly
Elgin clinic since 2007. Dr. Poles has experience providing
great dental care for the whole family. Beyond general dental

has extensive ... more... training and experience in cosmetic
dentistry such as dental implants.
Dr. Irene Renieris
 Dr. Irene Renieris has
been practicing with 1st Family Dental since 2005. Dr.
Renieris completed her training and education at Indiana
University school of Dentistry, graduating in 2004. Dr.
Renieris completed her General Practice Residency at the
University of Michigan. Dr. Renieris welcomes patients of
all ages, and much of her time with 1st Family Dental is spent
working with children and families. Dr. Renieris'
professional interests include pediatric dentistry as well as
sports dentistry. She is a member of the Hellenic
American Dental Society, as well as the American Dental Society
and the Chicago Dental Society.
Dr. Renieris is fluent in Greek as well as English, and is
originally from Detroit, MI. Dr. Renieris loves to watch
college sports in her spare time, and is an avid fan of any
team from the University of Michigan!
Dr. Robert Sandusky
Dr. Sandusky (we call him Dr. Bob)
graduated from Northwestern University Dental School, and
completed his formal education with a post-graduate degree from
Marquette University Dental School. He has been an attending
faculty member at Northwestern's TMJ clinic and attending staff
at Children's Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Bob was instrumental in the early research and development
of today's popular Bonding materials, doing initial clinical
trials of sealants, restorations, and veneers. This lead to
teaching and lecturing about bonding. Dr. Bob is
one of the founding members of the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry. He enjoys all aspects of dental care, but he is
especially passionate about providing patients with an
extra-pleasant experience. His motto: "An ultimate Treat…meant
for the mouth." In his free time, Dr. Bob enjoys golf, biking,
flying, and a good book. Dr. Bob practices at the Andersonville
Clinic on Clark St, as well as the our downtown Clinic at
Division & Wells.
Dr. Irene Sheynman
Dr. Irene Sheynman graduated in 2006 from the Marquette University
School of Dentistry and completed her Residency at Loyola
University Medical Center. During her residency, Dr.
Sheynman focused on pediatrics, oral surgery, cosmetic and
esthetic dentistry, as well as prosthodontics (restorative
procedures). Dr. Sheynman has been practicing with
1st Family Dental since then. Dr.
Sheynman enjoys working with children, and both children and
adults who love her calming and reassuring demeanor. Dr.
Sheynman administers
Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) for those who may feel a
little nervous about seeing the dentist. Dr. Sheynman
likes to look at whole-mouth health, which helps her patients
to not only know what is going on right now, but also focuses
on education and preventive techniques to make sure the future
holds a bright and healthy smile! Dr. Sheynman is a
member of the American Dental
Association, the Illinois
Dental Society, and the Academy of General
Dentistry. Dr. Sheynman is also fluent in
Russian.
In her spare time, Dr. Sheynman enjoys a variety of
activities including gardening, running, yoga, cooking, reading
and knitting. Dr. Sheynman practices in our
Logan Square, Albany Park and Andersonville locations.
Dr. Alan Shlimon
 Dr.
Alan Shlimon joined the 1st Family Dental team in
2010. Dr. Shlimon graduated from the University of
Chicago College of Dentistry, and during his education has been
the recipient of academic awards for excellence in
research. Dr. Shlimon has also co-authored several
publications in the field of dental medicine. Dr. Shlimon
has also completed special additional training and practice in
cosmetic dental procedures including dental implants and
Invisalign.
Dr. Shlimon currently practices at our family-friendly
clinic in Aurora, IL. Dr. Shlimon welcomes patients of
all ages, and enjoys taking the extra time and care to help
patients to feel comfortable and educated. Dr.
Shlimon is well-traveled, having lived in Iraq, Jordan, Greece,
and the United States. He is fluent in English, Arabic,
Assyrian, and Greek, and in his spare time, enjoys playing
outdoor sports such as soccer.
Dr. Sharon Varghese
Dr. Sharon Varghese graduated from
the Marquette University, where she was a National Health
Service Corps Scholar and committed 3 years of service to
underserved and uninsured patients in the Indianapolis
area. Dr. Varghese believes strongly in the
importance of patient education. Dr. Varghese loves
teaching patients how they can keep their smile healthy and
beautiful. Pediatrics is her favorite aspect of dentistry.
Educating children at an early age can help them maintain
healthy teeth for a lifetime. Dr. Varghese is a member of
the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society,
and the Chicago Dental Society. When she is not
practicing dentistry,
Dr. Varghese enjoys working out and playing sports,
especially soccer. She likes to cook and enjoys eating
even more! She also enjoys spending time with her family,
especially her husband Danny and young daughter Ariana
Dr. Lawrence Velano
Dr. Velano has been a part of the 1st
Family Dental team as a general dentist since 2003.
He received his dental degree at the top-ranked University at
Buffalo, New York. He completed advanced training in the
Navy for exodontia at the Naval Dental Center in San Diego, CA,
and extensive training in prosthodontics and aesthetic
dentistry at the Naval Dental Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Velano served our country for 4 years as a Dental
Officer in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton,
CA and Great Lakes Naval Dental Center. He also served
for 4 years in the Navy Reserves. Dr. Velano practices
at our Little Village Clinic on 26th St, as well as the
Adersonville Clinic on Clark St., and the Kedzie Avenue Clinic
in Albany Park. During his free time Dr. Velano enjoys,
running, photography, golf, and motor sports.
